Social Responsibility With Our Communities

We are dedicated to ethical tourism and supporting the local communities of the Andes through the following initiatives:

  • Community Projects: Actively setting up social projects for clothing, food, and educational support in the areas where we trek.
  • Skills Training: Training locals in isolated Andean communities in weaving, llama raising, and advanced agricultural production.
  • Economic Empowerment: Ensuring local people benefit directly from tourism by creating new jobs and improving living standards.
  • Fair Labor Practices: Providing fair treatment, decent wages, and health insurance for our entire crew and staff.
  • Local Sourcing: Exclusively using locally owned transportation and accommodation to keep revenue within the community.
  • Cultural Preservation: Protecting and ensuring the indigenous wisdom of native Inca communities is preserved.
  • Education: Providing scholarships for individuals who lack the resources to reach their full potential.
  • Annual Outreach: Sharing the spirit of Christmas by distributing presents, meals, and hot chocolate to approximately 100 local children.

All of these activities are made possible by the support of our tourists. We sincerely thank you for providing children’s shoes, clothes, and educational materials, which are gratefully received by our local families.

Environmental Responsibility

At Machupicchu Hiking Peru, we use Eco-Tourism as a primary tool to protect our natural environment. Our mission is to foster a deep love and respect for nature by increasing awareness among both our staff and our guests.

"We create frameworks where business promotes the sustainable use of pristine environments, ensuring benefits are shared fairly with local communities while preserving the earth."

Expertise & Heritage

Our founder, Timoteo Auccapuma (Mr. Tim), began his journey in the small community of Chinchero. From working as an Inca Trail porter to becoming a professional guide and administrator, Timoteo has spent over a decade perfecting the adventure experience.

Under his leadership at his previous firm, they were awarded Best Company Operator of the Inca Trail by DIRCETUR CUSCO in 2007. Today, he brings that world-class expertise to Machupicchu Hiking Peru.

What Sets Us Apart:

  • Local Knowledge: We hire the best porters, muleteers, and professional cooks from high Andean communities.
  • Fluent Professionals: All our guides are fluent in English and their native Quechua (Runa Simi) to preserve cultural identity.
  • Personalized Care: We treat every traveler like family. To us, our customers are the most important part of our business.
